Apple n Berry Crumble

We absolutely love fresh fruit in the summertime, and this recipe is the perfect way to please your friends and families’ tastebuds! The crunchy top layer followed by the juicy blackberries and apples is sure to have you drooling!

Instructions

  1. Preheat your Char-Griller Akorn to 350°F with lump charcoal, making sure the charcoal is well lit and burning clean.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the apples, blackberries, sugar, custard powder and lemon juice. Stir well.
  3. In a separate bowl, add the flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, cinnamon and almonds. Stir to combine evenly.
  4. Rub in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Grease a medium sized baking dish with butter and add the fruit to the dish.
  6. Scatter the crumb mixture evenly over the top of the fruit.
  7. Cook indirectly on the Char-Griller Akorn for approximately 1 hour until the topping is crisp and the fruit is tender.
  8. Serve with ice cream or custard.
